About

Spiritual traditions of various cultures and archetypal symbols have long interested me. Over the years, I’ve integrated those visual elements in my art while applying contemporary designs and patterns. Spheres and circles – which often represent wholeness, connection, and equanimity – are recurring motifs in my sculptural and functional ceramic objects and mixed media pieces.

Much of my ceramic work involves slip-casting or hand-building using plaster and bisque molds I make myself. Using molds gives me a structure for exploring variations on a theme with a wide range of designs, textures, and techniques in clay. While I make multiples of similar forms, each piece is unique and can be enjoyed individually or installed in groupings.

I first discovered my love of ceramics at City College of San Francisco and then studied the medium independently while traveling in Mexico and Central America. I later earned an MFA in Applied Craft and Design from Oregon College of Art and Craft / Pacific Northwest College of Art. I have exhibited art in California, Oregon, and Washington. I make my work at a community ceramics studio and at my kitchen table in San Francisco, California.
